Let's be real - the pressure to conform to societal norms, especially when it comes to alcohol consumption, can be overwhelming. But as someone who hasn't had a drink for a little over six years, I've come to realize that true joy and fulfillment doesn't come from a bottle. They come from nurturing our bodies, minds, and spirits in ways that honor our true selves.

My birthday is actually on St. Patrick's Day, so I can honestly tell you that before I quit drinking I REALLY knew how to celebrate on this day, so believe me when I say that a truly joyful St. Patty's doesn't require a single drop of alcohol. In fact, ditching the booze can unlock a whole new level of fun! (Added bonus is you get to forgo the killer hangover and you get to remember everything the next day!!!)

3 Quick Tips For A Sober St. Patrick's Day

It's all too easy to turn to alcohol as a coping mechanism for stress, anxiety, or societal pressures. But what if we flipped the script this St. Patrick's Day? Instead of focusing on how many drinks we can down in one night, let's shift our focus to activities that nourish our souls and uplift our spirits. Whether it's spending quality time with loved ones, indulging in a delicious and nutritious meal, or pampering ourselves with a relaxing self-care routine, or fun mocktails there are countless ways to celebrate without alcohol.

Avocado Citrus Dip (or Dressing)

Ingredients

  • 2 Avocados (peeled and pitted)

  • 1/4 Cup of Orange Juice

  • 1 Lime

  • 1 Tbsp Cilantro - optional (or you could use parsley or mint if you don't like cilantro) - I like to use a bit more herbs in mine, but that's my personal taste

  • A pinch of Salt and Pepper to taste

Directions

  • Mix all ingredients in a food processor, you may need to scrape down the sides a couple times, but it should get light, airy, and smooth

  • To use as a salad dressing, simple add 1 Tbsp of water at a time during the processing to thin it out to your desired thickness

Get Out and Have FUN!

Do something that makes you happy - this one is non-negotiable!

St. Patrick's Day is about more than just green beer. It's a celebration of Irish culture! Dive into some traditional Irish music. There might be a local venue hosting a live performance, or you can create your own playlist at home. Learn a jig or two (bonus points for wearing a festive green dress!), find out if your city hosts a St. Patrick's Day Parade.. You'll be surprised by how much fun you can have without alcohol.

Get together with some friends for a potluck, a game night, or even a relaxing spa day. Surround yourself with positive, supportive people who uplift you and celebrate your journey. True connection and laughter are way more rewarding than a fleeting buzz.
